Gimme Lean Veggie Sausage Review

Gimme Lean®…not Jimmy Dean®.

Eggs, bacon, grits, SAUSAGE!
Put some —–‘ syrup on my —– SAUSAGE!
Give me that —-, I know you wanna —- my SAUSAGE!
Sau-sau-sau-sau-sau-sau-sau-sau SAUSAGE!
Sau-sau-sau-sau-sau-sau-sau-sau SAUSAGE!

The above is some of the lyrics from a terrible song you can find on the Tubes of You.  Look it up if you want to.  It’s appropriately called, ‘Sausage Song’.

I swear…thing things people come up with.

Having said this…

Give me some sausage!  Gimme some Gimme Lean Veggie Sausage!

Lifelight Gimme Lean Veggie Sausage!  The fact that this comes in a package similar to real sausage is no coincidence. The texture and consistency are very similar to the stuff made by that dude from Texas that sang and played the guitar!

Look at him showing off his sausage!

Since becoming vegan, I often set out to find products that remind me of the stuff I used to eat growing up.  Grandad, or like we liked to call him, Da-da…used to cook up a skillet of Jimmy Dean every time I, my brother, and sis would stay over (along with them eggs, bacon, and biscuits).  This is one of those product that not only satisfies the ole taster, but satisfies the soul.

There is always one of those…you know…buttheads, that says stuff like,

this can’t be good”…”I bet it is NASTY!”…or “GROSS”.

Well I know a few of them that have eaten this without knowing and actually liked it!

I have even received great compliments from co-workers after I prepared a batch of these with some vegan biscuits for a “Bring-your-crap-to-work-for-breakfast” Day.  A couple of people even mentioned how it tasted better because it didn’t have those bits of cartilage and other nasty pieces in it.  Yuck!

Simple Ingredients as well:

This not-sausage sausage is so versatile well.  I have used it, not only as patties for breakfast, but as:

  • thick patties as a sausage sammich
  • seasoned up and formed into meatballs for a meatball sub
  • crumbled up for meaty filling for a taco
  • crumbled up and added to sketti sauce to pour over my skeeti
  • put this up in some croissants as a meaty stuffing
  • add to your pizza…duh!

Yup! It can be used in so many different ways.  Use it as you would the other stuff.

My main way of using it is simply to cut it into little disc and fry them muthas up in a bit of oil and slap it on a nice biscuit…Annie’s Organic Flaky Biscuits to be exact.

I’m talking about them things that are fluffy and go well with jelly and stuff…and not them little cookie looking bastards them British people be eating with their tea in the afternoon. Just be aware when you go out and try this, don’t try to cook it up like regular meat sausage.  This stuff cooks up a lot quicker and does best with low heat, nice-and-slow!

The best thing about this product is how much more healthy it is compared to the other.  Hence the name…Gimme Lean!  Check this out:

Heck!  I don’t know about you…but I choose me some Gimme Lean.

Found this gem a long time ago…and it fits this post well.

This clip contains some language that may offend some of you.  For me…I love it.  Just letting you know.
